Atelier Fig’s plate is a treat for the eye with a chewy message on finding a balance between our desires to explore and our responsibility to protect the environment.
Their design finds its inspiration in treasure hunts they did along riverbeds and shores, they regularly came across examples of waste woven into nature sometimes in an indistinguishable way, plants grown on to a knot of synthetic rope or oysters and coral that attaches itself to a block of plastic waste. Atelier Fig’s plate is inspired by this encounter and the delicate balance between the natural world and human activity, seeking to capture
opposite concepts of order and chaos, endangerment and beauty.
